Preserving the Next Picasso or Monet?

KID'S ARTWORK

PRE-ORGANIZED SCANNING PROJECT

Success Story
All told she had 196 beautiful pieces of artwork preserved and ready to place in a photo book she is creating for her daughter. A book her daughter will, undoubtedly, treasure forever.

The total number of items thrown away was 296, and we didn’t even count the ones she took with her, which probably totaled 50-100. So she arrived with approximately 500 items.

Because of time constraints, the customer was forced to sort through the artwork very quickly which she said worked out great. Given more time, she said it would have taken her much longer to whittle them down, especially on her own.

She also said she got a much better idea of how to sort through her other children’s artwork and select only the cream of the crop. She’ll be ready for the next round of scanning!

UPDATE

This customer returned about three months later to have the art projects of her three other children scanned. She did a great job of selecting the best pieces to have preserved. For these three children, she whittled the selections down to 96, 85 and 68 items. A far cry from the 196 in the first round. She did an awesome job and was thrilled to move on to the task of creating photo books (when she can fit it into her hectic life) filled with personal and wonderful memories for each of her children to enjoy!

Personal Approach
As the customer entered, she asks if she can sit on the floor and sort through everything one more time. As she began, she started to realize there was more there than she thought. We guessed at how many items she had and started crunching the numbers. It was going to be cost-prohibitive to do them all, plus, many were ones she wouldn’t do anything with anyway. So we started sorting through them together. She selected a sampling that represented the progression of her daughter’s work over the years. We sorted through hundreds of artwork in just 30 minutes!

In the photo shown here of her kid’s artwork, the ones in the clear container and the reddish portfolio at the top right were the ones to be scanned. The pile to the left was to be thrown away. And the items at the top left were going home with her.

Because of the size and construction of the artwork, all the items were scanned on the flatbed scanner.

Preserve your memories forever and for others.

Customer Collection
The customer saves all of her children’s artwork with the goal in mind to create a photo book of their best work for each of them. Indeed a fun, if not lofty goal, for a busy, young mother. She opted to start with her 7-year old’s art projects.

The customer arrived with all of the artwork piled high in a clear, open container, the wind whipping papers out from under her hand causing her to gather the strays while protecting the others from escaping. As I was heading out to help, she got everything under control–by everything I mean hundreds of pieces of artwork!

The first of the customer’s kid’s artwork scanning project. A case of less is more.
